Level E appointment – University of Queensland
The University of Queensland is currently conducting an international search for a Professor and Head of School, School of Languages and Cultures. We are searching for an exceptional academic scholar and strategic leader to assume the role of Professor and Head of School, School of Languages and Cultures and lead the School through its next phase of development. The School of Languages and Cultures has grown rapidly in recent years and now has over 1000 equivalent full-time students (over 8,000 course enrolments). It is one of the largest schools of language instruction in Australia with 46 fixed-term and continuing academic staff. The School of Languages and Cultures teaches Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish, as well as Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, to students in the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of International Studies, and the University-wide concurrent Diploma in Languages, the Diploma of Arts, and dual degree programs. A full-time continuing appointment will be offered to the successful applicant along with a five-year fixed term appointment as Head of School, with a possible continuation by mutual agreement of the headship appointment for a further term.
